A Shared Passion,
One Cohesive Vision
OUR STORY
Meet Our Founders
IYA is a multidisciplinary design and development studio based in the Balearic Islands, working across architecture, interiors, property development and creative direction. Rooted in the Mediterranean landscape, the studio creates refined contemporary homes shaped by materiality, atmosphere and an intimate connection to their surroundings.
Founded by Duncan Crooke and Emma Jensen, IYA Projects grew from a shared passion for architecture, interiors, travel and the creation of exceptional homes. The practice brings together complementary expertise in high-end property development, interior architecture, design and creative direction, allowing each project to evolve through one cohesive and carefully considered vision.
The studio’s integrated approach encompasses every stage of a property’s journey, from acquisition, site discovery and early concept development through to spatial planning, architecture, interiors, construction and final delivery. This continuity allows each element to develop in harmony, balancing contemporary living with timeless Mediterranean character.
Duncan brings more than twelve years of experience in luxury property development, following an earlier career in finance and law. His work spans acquisition, project structuring, design development and the management of complex residential projects from initial concept through to completion. His strategic and technical perspective provides a strong foundation for the creative ambition of the studio.
Emma holds a First Class degree in Interior Design and Technology and has worked with a number of award-winning design studios. Her approach is informed by a refined architectural sensibility and a deep understanding of materiality, proportion, atmosphere and spatial experience. She leads the studio’s interior vision and creative direction, shaping spaces that feel tactile, harmonious and emotionally resonant.
Travel remains an enduring source of inspiration for both founders. Encounters with vernacular architecture, extraordinary landscapes, artisan traditions and beautifully considered spaces around the world continue to enrich the studio’s creative perspective. These influences are interpreted thoughtfully rather than replicated, allowing each home to retain an identity that belongs entirely to its architecture, setting and owners.
At the heart of IYA is a progressive yet deeply contextual approach to design. Rather than adhering to a predetermined aesthetic, the studio responds to the character of each property, the rhythms of its landscape and the way its owners wish to live. Architecture, interiors and landscape are considered together, creating homes that feel coherent, natural and deeply personal.
Drawing inspiration from the architectural heritage and natural beauty of the Balearics, IYA collaborates closely with local architects, artisans, builders and makers. Traditional craftsmanship and regional materials are brought into dialogue with contemporary design, resulting in homes that feel timeless, tactile and intrinsically connected to the Mediterranean.
